Dee Gumenberg

Dee grew up interested in art but did not pursue her interest until 18 years ago. The kids were raised and she was thinking about retiring from her other job. She began to study the different mediums, experimenting until she had expertise in several of them.

Dee has no formal art education but has taken classes from some of the local artists skilled at passing on the art of art. A favorite medium is pencil. Dee enjoys drawing old buildings and vehicles. She and her husband travel in their motor home and along the many highways and byways see very interesting buildings, which she endeavors to capture when they spark her interest. Not always able to stop and work plein-aire she works from photographs. She also produces fantastic images of people, capable of capturing the essence of the persons inner being. She says the thought of preserving a rapidly disappearing part of our landscape fosters a deep love. She works with color as well, especially pastel and acrylic.
